At the moment lack of this function is preventing me from completely switching to ms teams because i need to know that my team members have seen certain posts and are aware of critical situations. Clicking into the chat window is the action that marks a message as a read receipt you wont get a read receipt if someone sees your message in a notification or in the activity feed.
From here turn on or turn off read receipts.
How to turn off read receipts in teams.
By default guest access is turned off.
